Introduction
Each year, more than 26,000 people in the United States learn that they
have cancer of the pancreas. The
National Cancer Institute (NCI) has written this booklet to help people with
cancer of the pancreas and their families and friends. We hope others will
read it as well to learn about this disease.
This booklet discusses symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment. It also has
information about resources and sources of support to help patients cope
with cancer of the pancreas.
Words that may be new to readers appear in italics. Definition
of these and other terms related to cancer can be found in the Glossary.
For some words, a "sounds-like" spelling is also given.
